SESSION 2: CREATING LOOKS

For this section, I am required to finish 3 styling shoots for a trend page. Before this session, I have investigated the PowerPoint and assume that was an individual work. I later realised that was a group work involving 3 people and I was told to bring my own materials to include in styling. Although the materials that my group-mates have brought have developed a different style comparing to my object, but it was still a great experience to collaborate with them. We started with working ideas on mannequin, but I was a bit struggled as the mannequin didn’t have arms and legs which is difficult to start, and I would like to play around with the objects without them slipping off. To move on, I quickly start styling on my group-mates’ body, and we have good communication while developing the idea, until we have all satisfied with our 3 outcomes.

Later we start shooting around the campus, however we have not taken enough photos and some of them the qualities weren’t clear enough due to lack of time arrangement. My strength in the lesson is that I have chosen the suitable objects in the shooting, and they were completely being utilised throughout the whole project.

EXPERIMENTS WITH TREND PAGES

For this experiment, as me and my group mates didn’t settle for a specific theme for the shooting, I utilised every editing skills I have to try to construct a story theme for the photographs, for instance, I applied collaging techniques for the last two photos shown below.

SDS (3 NEW LOOKS, Not Edited)

After the lesson, I am struggling with how to work on my SDS, until one night I invited my friend to come over to my apartment and I was immediately inspired to do a shooting with him. The first look is the one with hot pink dress, and I styled the look with electric mosquito swatter. I realised the mosquito swatter was very alike to the tennis racquet, so I further located my shooting at a gym room, and entirely used every spaces and equipments in the room. In my personal belief, I think I have obtain a better time management and a better preparation for the shooting and I believe it works better than my work during lesson. Moreover, I was impressed by how I was able to create three looks that creates big contrasts.
